My Experience with Windows XP Home Edition

I remember when Windows XP came out in the 1990’s it was one of the biggest launches ever for desktop publishing software. The internet was just starting and people were only realizing the importance of connecting through the internet.

This is when I bought my first Windows XP Home Edition package. I was so excited to get this software because I was a budding writer before then so having my own PC and running my own desktop publishing software kind of a big deal for me.

I got the CD from the store I bought it from and installed it to my home PC, it was perfect out of the box. None of the bugs associated with the previous XP versions was in the Home Edition. Microsoft really did a good job with it.

I used Word to write my first novel, I really loved that I can just write and worry about the grammar and punctuations later because Word would automatically highlight it for me. I’ll just let my imagination go wild and write like I want to and worry about the editing later. Before when I was just using my typewriter it was like editing nightmare as you can imagine.

I also love the Excel software because I get to do my home budgets in it and some of the hierarchy of characters in my book. Sometimes we writers need to get a structure of the characters so that we won’t get lost in the story. Plus I also use that to do my home budget.

But the best part of the system was PowerPoint; I used this part to do presentations for my publishers. It was like heaven sent, I can do presentations without me drawing stuff on paper. I can easily translate what I am thinking and present them to the publishers.

Having Windows XP Home Edition changed my life and I hope it did the same to you.
